This study researched the influence of transformational and servant leadership on organizational citizenship behavior and follower innovation, while considering the mediating effect of open communication and the moderating effect of a leader's rank. This study gathered data from a leader's perspective using a self-reporting approach to fill the current literature gap and produce refined measurement scales for future research. The study gathered 208 usable responses, analyzed using Warp PLS, which produced several key results. The direct effect of transformational and servant leadership on follower innovation and organizational citizenship behavior were all statistically significant with a P level of <.01. The moderating effect of a leader's rank was not statistically significant. The total mediated effect of transformational leadership on follower innovation was (β = 0.33 with a P value < .01) and on organizational citizenship behavior was higher at (β = 0.51 with a P value <.01). The total mediated effect of servant leadership on follower innovation was (β = 0.70 with a P value < .01) and on organizational citizenship behavior was (β = 0.88 with a P value <.01). This study provides a clear review of the literature and the research methodology, to include a list of measurement items and an overview of data collection. This study indicates that transformational and servant leadership positively influence organizational citizenship behavior and follower innovation, through the mediating effect of open communication, within the U.S. Army's Logistical field, from a leader's perspective. Leaders and researchers may use the results from this research to support leadership development programs or provide missing empirical data for future research. This study recommends that future research compare results against this study, using the refined measurement scales to further add to the body of empirical research.
