This study examined the impact of transgenerational refugee trauma on leadership to address the chasm in current literature at the intersectionality of trauma, diversity, and leadership. The study employed a bi-phasic, novel triangulation of qualitative research methods and researcher bridling. The first phase incorporated an abductive-inductive-deductive (A-I-D) process with a modified Peircean self-correcting methodology. The second phase combined a thematic and chronological narrative with Terryan restorying approach to tell the individual and composite stories of five leaders in the corporate, healthcare, and education sectors; interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) to describe the phenomenon; and a constructivist grounded theory approach to understand why the phenomenon occurred and its impact on leadership. The Gioia methodology was used to identify a total of 308 coded statements, 22 themes, 6 macro themes, and 3 aggregate dimensions. The study found that transgenerational refugee trauma impacted participants' (1) self-leadership values and behaviors in terms of how they sought to attain their goals, pivoted, and continuously improved upon their approach, and made sense of their various dimensions of diversity and (2) their others-directed leadership values and behaviors such as their approach to achieving results through others, leading others to achieve results, and compassionate approach to serving others. The study generated one substantive grounded theory entitled "Leadership Drive of First-Generation Leaders Whose Parents Are Refugees Grounded Theory," which explains the resilience and motivation of first-generation leaders whose parents are refugees and contributes to the gap in existing literature on how culture informs resilience and motivation.
