The specific problem that this research study addressed is that Born Global (BG) companies have a higher failure rate than the more traditional international business models. The purpose of this qualitative case study research was to examine the archival records of nine successful born global companies taken from various industries and led by purposeful entrepreneurs over the age of 21 who became engaged in a new venture originating within United States (U.S.) during the period 2002--2012 to answer the questions posed by the study. Additionally, the works of several prominent researchers were re-analyzed with the goal of highlighting other perspectives regarding born global internationalization success. There were primarily two data sources. First, the data obtained from an in-depth literature review of current peer-reviewed journal articles provided the theoretical background. Secondly, the current study findings were generated by carefully examining and analyzing nine successful case companies selected from the 2016 Inc. 5000 List of the Fastest Growing Private Companies in the America. Furthermore, QDA Minor---a powerful qualitative software program was used to code and analyze the data. The study findings resulted in a list of strategies supporting the idea that BG founders' unique leadership characteristics and having an entrepreneurial business culture are mostly the leading factors that successful BG companies established in order to achieve competitive status. The findings implied that the characteristics most prominently displayed by BG founders included the roles of: (a) innovativeness, (b) pro-activeness, and (c) risk-seeking behavior, but with the role of knowledge and learning attributed to the founder as being the most important of all. An entrepreneurial business culture, relates to niche seekers who are: (a) responsive to international markets, (b) cross-country collaboration, (c) superior product/service offerings, and (d) the ability to make optimal use of the internet along with digital tools and communications technology, and social networking. The updated information regarding how successful entrepreneurial founders sustained longevity in the global marketplace in spite of the foreign market problems they encountered may be beneficial to stakeholders who are contemplating international expansion, scholars, U.S. small business policymakers, and the general economy.
