As we have all seen in the news, concern about cybersecurity challenges, issues, and threats has continued to grow at a rapid pace with each passing year. Clearly, this is one of the most critical issues, not only to our nation's security, but also to our healthcare organizations. Healthcare organizations deal with more sensitive information. With data flowing across their networks, to and from devices that are easily lost or stolen, safeguarding patient's data becomes an utmost concern. Most of the time, the information they deal with is highly sensitive and adversaries are constantly trying to obtain this information using a wide range of attacks. Many professional hacker groups aggressively use computers and the Internet to communicate, and several become more sophisticated, developing the necessary technical skills to direct a coordinated cyber-attack. A cyber-attack intended to cause substantial harm to the U.S. economy would likely target the healthcare's information system.
