In chapter two, a brief review of the historical, political and socio-cultural background is given with particular emphasis on the reasons why Burmese Buddhists are suspicious and resistant to the Christian gospel. This is followed by an evaluation of attempts to bridge the gulf between Buddhist and Christian mindsets. An evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses will be included.
