Heart rate monitors are extraordinary tools for assessing cardiovascular fitness. The Heart Zones System has tremendous potential to improve cardiovascular education and fitness programs; however, there is a need to improve the configuration. The purpose of this study was to determine the ideal configuration for the Heart Zones System in a typical indoor gymnasium. This was accomplished by examining the relationship between signal interruption and the following factors: (a) the height; (b) the angle; and (c) location of WASP/Bridges. Healthy university students, male and female adults ages 19-25 with no apparent health problems, were recruited from an undergraduate physical education teacher education class. Participants wore the SCOSCHE RHYTHM+ sensor Armband Blink Heart Rate monitor while participating in a variety of physical activity lessons. ANOVA approach determined good, better, and best configuration of the system. The best configuration of the system was at low height F(2, 1052) = 54.86, p < .001, partial eta2 = .09, with angle at 60-degree (M = .50 , SD = .92), and when the WASP/Bridge was located at the left corner F(2, 1052) = 24.28, p < .001, partial eta2 = .04. This was the first study to determine the best configuration for Heart rate monitor from Heart Zones System.
