School Shootings represent a rare but serious form of targeted violence in schools. This book presents, firstly, the issues discussed in current scientific research. causes. In addition to perpetrator characteristics, the private as well as school living environment, the influence of mass media, accessibility to weapons, as well as the consumption of media containing violence. Secondly, primary and secondary preventive measures such as profiling and threat assessment are addressed as well as the phenomenon of leaking. And thirdly, this book puts the focus on the aftercare of school shootings, the aim of which is to reduce experienced psychotraumatic stress. Emergency psychological acute assistance, short-term to medium-term, trauma-focused, as well as longer-term intervention measures for children, adolescents and adults are explained in more detail.
