Thesis (M.Ed.)--Saint Mary's College of California, 2023.

Students with learning disabilities face challenges pursuing higher education and, subsequently, are unprepared for the workforce. Successfully pursuing postsecondary education includes self- determination skills and early authentic transition planning. This synthesis project was created to provide a resource for California public middle and high school students eligible for special education under specific learning disability (SLD) who are transitioning to postsecondary education at a four-year college or university. The handbook was evaluated through a survey by nine professionals working in the special education field, and one college student who fit the intended audience profile. These professionals agreed that the handbook would benefit middle or high school students with learning disabilities as they prepare for transitioning to postsecondary education.
