This quantitative study explored the teacher perceptions of leadership behaviors as identified by Green's 13 core competencies. Data were collected from 143 participants who completed an electronic survey to investigate (a) teacher burnout (i.e., exhaustion and disengagement) and (b) leadership behaviors as perceived by teachers. The study utilized the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (Demerouti & Nachreiner, 1998) to measure the frequency to with teachers perceived having feelings of burnout and the Leadership Behavior Inventory (Green, 2006) to measure teachers' perceptions of leadership behaviors. Pearson's correlations, multiple regressions and independent sample t-test analyses were used to explore the associations between teacher burnout, teacher perceptions of school leadership and perceived teacher burnout among male and female teachers. The frequency to which teachers perceived their leaders as exhibiting behaviors informed by the 13 competencies was related to teachers' feelings of burnout. Specifically, behaviors tied to visionary leadership had the most impact on feelings of burnout.
