The quantity of information makes it difficult to recognize what's reliable. There is a wide range of mediums like social media and mass media and methods like advertising and storytelling that touch us every day. People's perspective toward the world is often shaped during this process. Humans prefer information that supports their existing belief system, and mass media and social media make it much easier for us to absorb only the information that supports our opinions, reinforcing instead of challenging these beliefs (Happer and Philo). According to research, there are diverse social norms in different countries, which affect an individual's ethics and values and influence their behaviors. In this thesis, I applied Geert Hofstede's Culture Dimensions (Hofstede) to compare values in different cultures and societies and combine my personal life experiences to find more specific mediums and communication methods that impact people. As a communication designer, I'm also trying to understand how an audience's perception is generated and what role a communication designer should play when conveying information or telling stories, as we always want our work to bring positive benefits to society.
