This purpose of this study is to explore the challenges Black American entrepreneurs face in Baltimore, MD, when accessing the benefits of entrepreneurship. Through qualitative interviews and thematic analysis, five main barriers were identified: financial limitations, knowledge gaps, systemic racism, marketing challenges, and limited access to resources. The critical race theory (CRT) served as the theoretical lens, with the cumulative disadvantage theory and the social change theory providing additional insights and frameworks supporting the CRT lens. What challenges do Black American entrepreneurs face in Baltimore, MD, when attempting to access the benefits of entrepreneurship? The findings of the study proposed recommendations to address these challenges, including enhanced financial initiatives, comprehensive educational programs, inclusive policies, and marketing assistance. The findings contribute to a more equitable business environment and provide actionable strategies to mitigate the identified barriers. Future directions for research, policy development, and practical interventions are suggested. The aim was to promote an inclusive and empowered entrepreneurship ecosystem where Black Americans and other minority groups can thrive. The findings also underscored the importance of supporting Black American entrepreneurs and suggested ways to bridge the gap between research and practice. It was recommended to expand the sample size, investigate the efficacy of interventions, and explore the intersectionality of race and entrepreneurship. Incorporating quantitative methodologies can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the issues. The study aimed to foster racial equality in entrepreneurship and develop evidence-based support strategies. A more diverse and equitable business landscape can be created by working together to empower Black American entrepreneurs. Advocating for entrepreneurial success and ensuring a thriving environment for Black American entrepreneurs is crucial.
