Students from different parts of the world join the United States education system every day. Sometimes, these students come with a language different from English and, of course, a diverse cultural background. It is important to highlight that as students struggle in their school life due to the transition, the cultural differences, and the language barrier, many do not find any support at home because, as students, their parents are also struggling with the language. Parents can find it challenging to support their children with their reading, and communication with the school may be inefficient due to cultural and linguistic differences. This workshop provides strategies to allow parents to be more involved in their children's school life.
