Accelerating the Boys and Girls Clubs to continued learning and growing in their practices is one key to transforming the young boys and girls which they serve. The purpose of this study was to examine the affects that the Boys and Girls Clubs have had on the membership and to utilize the information learned to endorse the Clubs work going forward. This qualitative research approach included a phenomenological design. The research questions were: 1. Do youth programs provide a positive impact, including enhanced interpersonal skills, self-control, self-efficacy, commitment to school, and academic achievement for youth? 2. Does mentoring program make a difference in the lives of youth? 3. Did the Boys and Girls Club's Logan Square Unit of 1982's involvement make a difference in the lives of the young people they served? Please give some examples. A discussion of what constitutes successfully integrated youth programs were based upon questioners and interviews with five alumni participants who provided in-depth feedback from four decades earlier. The data collected measured the practical theories applied that formulate the success factors in developing young children and young adults. The research strategy and method employed validated the findings of the study and will serve to provide a unique contribution to the literature and studies that already exist. The study concludes with a discussion of future direction, including the need for further external financial and non-financial support. The implication of not supporting this non-profit work can lead to economic and staffing cutbacks of the Boys and Girls Clubs essentially reducing the number of clients they can influence. The results were semi-conclusive regarding the impact the Club's effectiveness has on its members. The implications of the research recognize mentoring, youth activities, and a safe place is necessary for positive youth growth. As youth training programs are implemented or readjusted, through concerted planning and projecting on youth's future needs, more relevant academic programs can be developed that will empower future youth. It is recommended that there be continued research regarding youth development support and pathways leading to more social skill training and academic offerings.
