Little research on the perspectives of individuals with autism who are competitively employed in their community exists. This qualitative study sought to understand the perceptions of males, aged 18-60, diagnosed with autism, working competitively in community employment for a minimum of 90 days on their lives and personal satisfaction regarding their employment. Modified from Pfeiffer et al. (2017) interviews of five autistic males were conducted and the narrative data were coded and analyzed qualitatively to discover themes. Three main themes were identified: 1) Enjoyment of Employment; 2) Challenges of Employment and 3) Benefits of Employment. These themes are explored in depth and connections for practice, including supporting individuals in competitive community employment are discussed.
