A review of aesthetic literature was used as a starting point upon which to build a prescriptive framework because popular multimedia environments appear to arouse the same characteristics as aesthetic experience. Results indicate that this may indeed be the case. The aesthetic framework does not generalize beyond this study.

The data was studied as it represented a phenomena, not simply a summary description of an incident. At least three instances of a concept or phenomena were mentioned by different participants before it was considered as a sub-category, Five characteristics (unity, attention, active discovery, affect, intrinsic gratification) of an aesthetic experience from philosophical literature were used as primary coding categories and as part of the aesthetic framework after it was established that they accurately reflected the data from the participants.
