A review of literature resulted in a clear need for further study in the use of online music lessons to enhance performance skills of musicians within Army National Guard Bands. The researcher concludes this article with a discussion for the viability of online music lessons as a potential means of assisting the part-time 42Rs to seek self-improvement. The intended audience for this research study is music educators, students, and musicians seeking to increase an understanding of the US Army audition process.

In Article 2, the researcher presents a research study of the use of online instrumental music lessons for the 42R (Army musician). Also presented is the background and purpose of examining Skype as a viable means of delivering online music lessons to current Army National Guard band members. This article concludes with findings of the use of online lessons using Skype with 42R Soldiers seeking self-improvement on AMPA to maintain affiliation with the Army Music Program. The article also contains a collaborative definition of methods for independent music practice. These methods can be adapted and utilized by the instrumental music teacher of pedagogic students, as well as practitioners of adult music education.

In Article 3, the implications and applications of findings as pertains specifically to the Army National Guard (ARNG) component of the Army Music Program are discussed. There are a variety of potential program changes that could occur based on the outcome of the study. One such endeavor includes a more systemic and potentially cost-saving approach to the use of online music lessons for members of the US Army reserve component music program. The intended audiences are US Army Leadership throughout the Army Music Program and in particular ARNG band unit leaders.
