This position paper will support the position that leadership development programs that include EI in the curriculum, have a positive outcome on the different elements of leadership effectiveness. The examination of my position will occur through the review of current literature, analysis of existing literature and case studies, and a twist of my own experience and knowledge of this topic. Information, research, and analysis of information will be presented through my position and the counterclaim. My position is precise and captures more case studies that provide qualitative data to analyze as opposed to mostly theoretical opinions based material presented through the counterclaim. The implications of this research highlights that only a leader that has been taught about Emotional Intelligence through a leadership development program can truly understand how to be an effective leader. The implications also point to proposed areas of new research within this field such as: exploration of EI within different business sectors and its impact on EI effectiveness, exploration of the development programs that don't include EI within the curriculum and the program's effectiveness, exploration of leadership approach, tactical and strategically, within an organization that doesn't support the EI theory.
