This researcher sought to understand parents of Green Primary School students' beliefs, perceptions, and experiences about education and their willingness and ability to support their child's academic development. This researcher focused on parent involvement activities used and accepted by parents amongst students enrolled in early childhood classrooms in the East Tennessee region. Parent involvement refers to parent participation in school related activities, such as helping with homework, attending parent-teacher meetings, reading books at home, volunteering in the classroom, attending extracurricular activities, etc. This researcher investigated in which parent involvement services parents participate and investigated why parents chose not to participate in parent involvement services and opportunities. The population size consisted of 82 participants. Participants demonstrated, through survey and interview responses, they are most involved with homework and other at-home types of involvement with their child's education. Appalachian parents demonstrated a similarity to their parent's practices in educational involvement of their children.
