The purpose of this study was to investigate factors that impacted teachers' perceptions of homework and how homework was implemented. The researcher developed a survey and posted it on several social media sites in nine Southeastern states. Three challenge questions helped identify which visitors were educators and which were not. A total of 405 elementary, middle, and high school teachers completed the survey and, for each of 73 items, indicated what their current beliefs and practices were related to assigning homework to their students and the extent to which those beliefs and practices changed from their first year of teaching. Analysis of the data revealed years of experience, gender, degree type, and grade level taught were related to teachers' perceptions of the appropriateness, purposes, and effectiveness of homework, and the extent to which beginning beliefs had changed during the teachers' experience as K-12 educators.
