This study investigated the impact of an inquiry-based and technology intervention program on students' achievement in science at Knight Middle School. The participants consisted of 24 sixth grade students. To determine students' achievement and to assess the effects of the intervention, a 9-item pre- and post-test assessment was given, and observation and anecdotal notes were analyzed. The seven-week intervention program consisted of eight lessons with cooperative learning activities and authentic, relatable, and engaging tasks. Although this study was conducted in a short period of time, the results show that incorporating more technology and hands-on experiences in a middle science classroom can have positive effects on students' achievement. The study revealed that students' engagement increased and their assessment scores improved with the intervention. However, it was found that the participants were not as engaged in the inquiry-based lessons as compared to the technology lessons. It also showed some barriers in implementing this type of intervention program with reference to both the teacher and the students. Based on these outcomes, some recommendations for better results are discussed along with suggestions on what should be included to further students' success.
