Durch den zunehmenden Einsatz von Computern in nahezu allen Lebensbereichen erhöht sich die Menge verfügbarer Information extrem. Die Nutzung dieser Daten führt zu immer größeren betriebswirtschaftlichen und technischen Systemen, die zu komplex sind, um von Menschen verstanden zu werden. Als Ausgleich für dieses Manko wird im Rahmen der Digitalisierung versucht, intelligente Verfahren einzusetzen, die dem Menschen dabei helfen, die Systeme zu verstehen und zu steuern. In diesem Buch wird eine Theorie vorgestellt, die die systemischen Grenzen für diesen Ansatz aufzeigt und Alternativen vorschlägt. Systeme können nur dann nachhaltig und rational gemanagt werden, wenn die Konsequenzen von Entscheidungen auch verstanden werden können. Systeme mit entsprechenden strukturellen Eigenschaften sind mittel- und langfristig deutlich rentabler und überlebensfähiger. Der Text spiegelt die Erfahrung von mehr als 20 Jahren Beratungstätigkeit der Autoren wider.
